Project Operation Structure
Aiming for the Creation of a Cluster Based on Advanced Preventative Techniques for Community Health
Overall Project: Yuichi Mabuchi
Social reforms accompanying population ageing are becoming increasingly significant issues in advanced nations. One of these issues is maintaining the health of citizens. In order to maintain the vitality of a society where aged persons play a central role, it is vital to ensure that each and every person is capable of performing their work in good health. It is therefore essential to adopt initiatives which minimize the physical degeneration caused by ageing and maintain the health of citizens so as to prevent illness. The Greater Sendai Area Knowledge Cluster Initiative (GSAKCI) aims to better understand the health of the region's citizens and establish a health service cluster in collaboration with industry, academia and the government to develop health advisory services which reflect the lifestyle habits of all citizens. The initiative leverages the region's globally-competitive leading researchers and research facilities in the field of medical engineering and information communication technologies with a focus on Tohoku University. By introducing the health services developed through this initiative to the lifestyle habits of the community, we aim to maintain and promote health throughout the life stages of all citizens, both young and old alike. We are promoting this initiative with a focus on 'preventive lifestyle' in order to improve quality of life (QOL), deliver appropriate medical and nursing care costs, and make Sendai a world-class region in terms of community health and vitality.
